Neighbourly dispute and nuisance

A neighbour's party, a drilling machine used in the evening or someone else's bicycle in your doorway: such things can be a considerable nuisance. Bear in mind that a friendly conversation often does more than filing an angry complaint. First take a deep breath and count to ten. Practise has proven that talking about things over a cup of coffee is by far the best solution. Approach the problem deliberately and make positive suggestions for resolving the situation. Some neighbours might not even be aware of the nuisance they cause. Or they simply think that their neighbours will let them know if they do. So in any case let yourself be heard, but do so tactfully.
You can also report (whether or not anonymously) to the Residential Nuisance Reporting and Advise Centre within your municipality. Telephone: 14070. The problem gets much worse if your neighbours systematically create noise, damage things or other create other forms of nuisance. In those cases it is best to report to the police.

If you have a complaint about the (living) environment, then you can use one of the standard forms issued by the municipality of The Hague. Your housing association can also mediate.
