Subtenancy

Subtenancy involves a tenant renting out his room or living space to another person. The subtenant therefore has no agreement with the housing association or the owner of the building. If you plan to sublet your room or house or if you plan to rent a room in subtenancy, you need to know the following:
  • As a tenant you are only allowed to sublet your room or house with the approval of the building owner or the housing association;
  • In the event of subtenancy, only the principal tenant is entitled to rent protection. If the principal tenant terminates the rent or requires the space for himself again, the subtenant is obliged to leave.
