Housing permit

A housing permit is required for all independent living accommodation which you might wish to occupy in The Hague and of which the basic rent, including service charges eligible for a grant and excluding the costs of a garage and/or company space, do not exceed €647,53 or of which the basic purchase price (without purchase costs payable by the purchaser end the like) do not exceed €163.625. For private rented accommodation and for a owner-occupied house, you need to apply for a permit at one of the urban district council buildings in The Hague.

If you plan to rent a house from a housing association, then you will be given a housing permit after signing the tenancy agreement. In submitting an application you need to pay for administrative charges. These amount to €38,23
