Looking for rooms

Finding a room is not easy. Here is a step-by-step plan for finding a room:

  • Tell all your friends, your family, colleagues and acquaintances that you are looking for a room. This really works: 75% of all people looking for accommodation find it via someone they know;
  • Visit the www.jongeren.vestia.nl, www.duwo.nl and www.staedion.nlsites.
  • Here you will find a (temporary) number of offers and this is where you can place your notice.
  • If you are a student you can also make use of the student offers provided by DUWO;
  • Check the Haagse Courant newspaper. The Saturday edition lists many rooms. Make sure that you get the paper first thing in the morning and react immediately when you see something interesting;
  • Place an advertisement in the newspapers, at the supermarket, on the announcement board at school or on the Internet (use the links). Include the following in your advertisement: The maximum amount of rent that you are willing to pay; the date of intended use; your mobile telephone number. Never include your own address. If you are a girl, then think twice before mentioning that in the advertisement. There might be someone using that information and becoming a nuisance.
  • If you are only looking for accommodation for a few months, then hang a notice on the notice board of the room-shop at Stamkartplein. There often are students looking for someone to rent their room for a few months.
    [li]At the JIP you can take a look at the new room offers provided by the DUWO room-shop.
  • At the JIP you can look for rooms via the Internet every day.
