Key money

Some landlords renting out rooms and private houses demand the payment of key money before you are able to rent one of their rooms. They are not allowed to do so, and you do not have to pay them. If you do pay, however, always ask for a receipt. You will then always be able to demand repayment of that key money when you move, through the court if necessary.
